Chantilly is ranked 11th on the Top 100 Continental Europe Ranking by Today's Golfer Magazine.
Chantilly, one of the early designs by British architect Tom Simpson, was introduced in 1909 with twenty-seven holes. In 1990, Donald Steel expanded it by an additional nine holes, necessitating the replacement of three of Simpson's original finishing holes. The club, often likened to the "St. Andrews of France," maintains its charming atmosphere, featuring a timeless, pavilion-style clubhouse distinct from modern structures.
Fontainebleau is ranked 3rd on the Top 100 Continental Europe Ranking by Today's Golfer Magazine.
Established in 1909, Fontainebleau stands as one of Tom Simpson's early creations. Nestled in the Forest of Fontainebleau, this exclusive club benefits from superb drainage courtesy of its sandy soil. Each hole is intricately placed amid diverse deciduous woodlands, occasionally revealing glimpses of deer and other wildlife. Despite its modest 6000-meter length, the course's allure lies in its well-balanced design, featuring narrow fairways leading to small greens. Fontainebleau is home of numerous national amateur event and is one of the most reputed golf courses in France.
Saint-Germain is ranked 23rd on the Top 100 Continental Europe Ranking by Today's Golfer Magazine.
During the 1920s, Harry S. Colt intricately crafted the St. Germain golf course, positioned in close proximity to Paris. The terrain features gentle undulations, the course predominantly follows a level path, emphasizing one of Colt's strategic decisions—elevating greens where the natural topography lacks relief. The St. Germain forest assumes a pivotal role, delineating almost every hole with its enveloping trees. Adhering to Colt's distinctive style, the 116 bunkers are artistically sculpted, strategically positioned, and plentiful. After the regrettable fire that engulfed the original clubhouse in the Fifties, a new structure emerged, meticulously designed to blend harmoniously with the historic surroundings.
